Marilyn's 3rd Great Grandparents-Zachariah HOGAN and Delilah MARKSBURY and Scottish Royalty:

Controversy is sometimes like a ticking time bomb. And this time, time is ticking...but it's not about some negative issue that is ready to knock a legendary star off of her pedestal. Rather, this is one is quite interesting and respectful. Could it be that Marilyn Monroe is directly related to a Scottish Royal line? What started out as an internet hoax is slowing gaining momentum and now the search is on!

According to the Scottish Douglas Archives, "the first Douglas to stride across the stage of Scottish history was Sir William Douglas who fought and died for William Wallace. His son, Sir James Douglas was a supporter and lifelong friend of Robert the Bruce." During subsequent historic events and generations, a William Douglas, Duke of Queensberry took the stage in Scottland. He was a controversial statesman and politician who held such positions as Lord Justice General of the Kingdom of Scotland, Lord High Treasurer of Scottland, and in 1685 Lord Commissioner to the Scottish Parliament. In 1657, he married Isabel Douglas, whose father was the 1st Marquess of Douglas, and they had 5 documented children. This is where the controversy begins. In apparently 1663, a 6th child named Samuel Douglas was born. At some point a Samuel Marksbury begins to show up in the early America and starts a new life without any royal title.

On August 9, 1806, Zachariah Hogan married Delilah Marksbury whose father is Samuel Marksbury III. His grandfather is Samuel Marksbury I. This Samuel I might be the son of William Douglas, Duke of Queensberry. Initial inquiry had the Douglas historians denying the claim that there ever was a sixth child named Samuel Douglas that immigrated to early America. But now the Douglas Archives has verified that they are searching for direct male descendants of the Marksbury lineage in order to test their DNA to see if it matches Douglas DNA or not....the rumor going around is that it does! But don't let me try to convince you....you can go check it out for yourself!
