Explaining the sale, David Karanja, a spokesperson for the company, says that 1918 was the year Nelson Mandela was born and by selecting that as the sale price it is one way of recognizing him, drawing inspiration from him and letting the world learn about Africa and African heroes for less. All this is done with the hope of spreading the new message of hope in Africa and reaching more people globally about the continent and its rising opportunities. Indeed Nelson Mandela is an inspiration to the world and the UN has chosen to recognize 18th July of every year, his birthday, as the Nelson Mandela International Day. This is a day of service where people are encouraged to spend only 67 minutes of their time doing good in society. Mandela himself dedicated 67 years of his life in serving the people of South Africa in fighting injustice, inequality and apartheid.
At such a time it is important that each individual reflects on the sacrifices Mandela made and to consider one way that he or she would make a difference in society.
